How video appointments work
How a video appointment is delivered, what you need for the call, and what happens if someone is late or the call fails.
The short version
- Appointments are by video only, at the time you booked.
- You need a phone or computer with a microphone, a camera and an internet connection of at least 1.5 Mbps.
- If the doctor is more than 15 minutes late, you choose a full refund or a new time. If you are more than 15 minutes late, the appointment counts as delivered.
- Video appointments are recorded and stored securely, as NHRA rules require.

What a video appointment is
A video appointment is a consultation by video with an independent licensed doctor, booked through Saleem. It is by video only: there are no audio-only or chat consultations.
The doctor gives the medical advice and is responsible for it. Saleem runs the platform and the call.
Booking
You can book a time with a doctor, or choose Talk to a doctor now. A time today must be at least 1 hour from now, and the doctor approves same-day times before they are confirmed.
When you book, you tell us the reason for your visit, and you can upload reports so that the doctor sees them before the call. You pay the full fee in advance, and your booking is confirmed only when your payment succeeds. We then send you a confirmation and reminders with the link to join.
What you need
- A phone, tablet or computer with a microphone and a camera.
- An internet connection of at least 1.5 Mbps.
- An up-to-date web browser, with permission to use your microphone and camera.
- A quiet, private place.
The camera is optional. If you have not shared your medical reports, or the doctor needs to see you to assess you properly, the doctor may ask you to turn it on.
Joining the call
Join from the link in your account or in your reminder, at the time you booked. You wait in the waiting room until the doctor joins. The appointment is planned for 15 minutes, and the doctor decides when it ends.
If the doctor is late or does not join
If the doctor cancels, does not join, or is more than 15 minutes late, you choose a full refund or a new time.
If you chose Talk to a doctor now and no doctor joins within 30 minutes, we refund you in full automatically.
If you are late or do not join
If you do not join, or you are more than 15 minutes late, there is no refund. The appointment counts as delivered.
If the call drops or fails
If the call drops, join again from the same link. If the appointment cannot continue because of a technical fault on Saleem's side, you choose a new time at no cost or a refund.
After the appointment
The appointment is complete when the call ends, unless we confirm that it ended early because of a fault on our side.
After the call, the doctor writes your visit summary. If the doctor decides you need them, you also receive an e-prescription, a lab request or a follow-up appointment. You receive a receipt for your payment. You find all of these in your account.
Doctors on Saleem do not prescribe controlled substances and do not issue official sick leave through Saleem.
Recording
Video appointments are recorded and stored securely, as NHRA rules require. Recordings are only opened if needed for a complaint, a regulator's request or a legal reason. We keep recordings for at least 1 year. The privacy policy explains how we protect them.
Not for emergencies
Video appointments are not for emergencies. In an emergency in Bahrain, call 999.
